How to Place a Dine-In Order in Fleksa POS Using Discount and Tip ?

This article explains how to apply a discount and tip while placing or completing a Dine-In order in Fleksa POS.


Prerequisites

Before you begin:

  • You are using Fleksa POS on Windows / Tablet / Android

  • A Dine-In table layout is already set up

  • You have Cashier / Manager / Admin access

  • The POS app is updated


Steps to Solve

Step 1: Open Fleksa POS

Open the Fleksa POS app on your Windows PC, tablet, or Android device.

Step 2: Go to the Dine-In Page

  • Click Dine-In from the main menu.

  • Your table layout will appear.

Step 3: Select the Table

  • Click on the table where the guests are seated.

  • The order screen for that table opens.

Step 4: Add Items to the Order

  1. Go through the menu categories.

  2. Add items by clicking on them.

  3. Adjust quantity or modifiers if necessary.

  4. Send to kitchen (optional but recommended).


Applying Discount & Tip

A) How to Apply a Discount

Step 5: Open Discount Option

  • Click Checkout.

  • At the bottom/right side, click Discount.

Step 6: Choose Discount Type

You can apply:

  • Percentage Discount (e.g., 10%, 20%)

  • Fixed Amount Discount (e.g., $5 OFF, €3 OFF)

Step 7: Apply the Discount

  • Enter the percentage or amount.

  • Click Apply Discount.

  • The new total will update immediately.

Note: Discounts can only be applied before completing payment.


B) How to Add a Tip

Step 8: Open Tip Option

While in the Checkout screen:

  • Click the Tip button.

Step 9: Select Tip Amount

You can enter a tip:

  • Manually (any custom amount)

  • Or choose a preset percentage (e.g., 5%, 10%, 15%)

Step 10: Apply the Tip

  • Click Add Tip.

  • The total bill will now show:
    Order Amount + Discount (if applied) + Tip


Completing the Payment

Step 11: Choose Payment Method

Select one of the available methods:

  • Cash

  • Card

  • QR Payment

  • Giftcard

Step 12: Complete the Payment

  • Confirm the payment.

  • The table will return to Available.


Common Issues & Solutions

Issue: Discount button not visible.
Solution: You must be in the Checkout screen.

Issue: Tip is not added to the total.
Solution: Ensure the tip was confirmed with Add Tip.

Issue: Discount cannot be edited.
Solution: Remove discount first, then reapply.


Tips & Best Practices

  • Always apply discounts before payment to avoid manual edits.

  • Use percentage discounts for promotions and fixed amounts for compensation.

  • Ask guests before entering the tip amount.

  • Reprint the bill after applying discount & tip to avoid confusion.

Q: Can I remove a discount or tip before payment?
Yes — click Remove Discount or Remove Tip.

Q: Can I use discount and tip together?
Yes — both can be applied in the same order.

Q: Do discount and tip affect kitchen orders?
No — they only apply to billing.
