Setting Up a New Device

Choose your device and mounting location

Position the display where kitchen staff can see it clearly. Avoid placing directly above heat sources or steam.

Connect to power and WiFi

Use a permanent power connection (not battery). Connect to a stable WiFi network.

Open the browser and navigate to KDS

Go to kds.fleksa.com or your custom domain. Chrome is recommended.

See Authentication for login steps.

Mounting Options

Wall Mount

  • Use VESA mount for monitors/TVs

  • Position at eye level for standing staff

  • Avoid direct heat or steam exposure

  • Run power cable along the wall for a clean setup

Counter Stand

  • Tablet stands work well for smaller displays

  • Consider anti-theft mount for high-traffic areas

  • Angle the screen for easy viewing and touching

Arm Mount

  • Adjustable viewing angle — swing out of the way when needed

  • Good for tight kitchen spaces

  • Mount to wall, shelf, or counter edge

Power Management

Keep the Screen On

  • Disable auto-sleep in the device's system settings

  • Use a "keep screen on" app if the device doesn't support disabling sleep

  • Always connect to power — don't rely on battery during service

Handling Power Outages

  • KDS auto-reconnects when power returns

  • Queued orders sync automatically

  • Consider a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) for critical operations

Running Multiple Devices

Log in to each device with the same restaurant credentials

All devices use the same account but can show different stations.

Select a different station on each device

One device for Grill, another for Prep, etc. See Station Routing.

Verify real-time sync

Place a test order and confirm it appears on all devices. See Live Updates.

Troubleshooting

Problem

Solution

Screen dims during service

Check device power settings, disable auto-brightness

Touch not responding

Clean the screen (grease buildup), restart device

Browser crashes

Clear cache, close other apps, update browser

Slow performance

Close all other apps, restart device, check WiFi speed

WiFi drops frequently

Move router closer, consider a WiFi extender or ethernet adapter

Screen too small to read

Increase font size in KDS Settings, or upgrade to a larger display
