Managing Orders

Learn how to mark items as ready, complete orders, and manage your kitchen workflow efficiently.

Basic Actions

Mark Item Ready

Tap an individual item to mark it as prepared. A checkmark appears next to it. Front-of-house staff can see which items are ready.

Bump Order (Complete)

When all items in an order are ready, tap the Bump button or swipe the order card. This removes it from your screen and notifies front-of-house that the order is ready for pickup/serving.

Recall Order

Accidentally bumped an order? Tap the Recall button in the header to bring back recently completed orders. Recalled orders return to the screen as if they were never bumped.

Bumping an order notifies the POS and front-of-house staff. Only bump when the food is actually ready to serve.

Order Arrives

The order appears on screen with an audio alert. The timer starts at 0:00. See Notifications to configure alert sounds.

Start Cooking

Tap the order card to acknowledge it (optional). This can change its status to "In Progress" for other stations to see.

Mark Items Done

Tap each item as you complete it. Other stations and front-of-house can see your progress.

Bump When Ready

Tap Bump to remove the order from your screen. This notifies the POS that the order is ready.

Partial Orders

For large orders with many items, you can serve items as they're ready:

  1. Tap individual items to mark them done as you finish them

  2. Front-of-house sees which items are ready via their POS

  3. They can serve partial orders (e.g., starters first, mains later)

  4. Bump the order when the last item is complete

Partial order handling is great for large groups. Starters and drinks can go out immediately while mains are still cooking.

Priority Orders

Rush Orders

Orders marked as "Rush" by POS staff appear with a special indicator and may trigger an extra alert. Prioritize these above other orders.

VIP Orders

VIP customer orders may be highlighted differently. Check with your manager for specific handling procedures.

Multi-Station Workflow

When your kitchen has multiple stations (grill, prep, bar, etc.):

  1. Each station sees only their assigned items

  2. Mark your station's items ready when done

  3. The order auto-bumps when ALL stations complete their items

  4. Station progress is visible across all stations — you can see how close other stations are

See Station Routing for setting up multi-station workflows.
